We are part of the United Church of Christ denomination which was formed in 1957 from 4 other denominations joining together to serve Christ Jesus as one Church. Our Christian Church group, our Evangelical Church group, Reformed Church group and the Congregational Christian Churches. The Congregational Churches were organized in 1620 with the Pilgrims of Plymouth Plantation and the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony of 1629 acknowledged their essential unity in the Cambridge Platform of 1648. The Reformed Church in the United States traced it’s beginnings to congregations of German settlers in Pennsylvania founded from 1725 on. Later other Reformed folk and leaders from Switzerland and other countries. The Christian Churches sprang up in the late 1700s and early 1800s in reaction to the theological and organizational rigidity of the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Baptist churches of the time. The Evangelical Synod of North America traced it beginning to an association of German Evangelical pastors in Missouri founded in 1840 but beginnings in 1817 union of Lutheran and Reformed churches in Germany.
Our theme and motto for the United Church of Christ is the scripture Jesus shares in John chapter 17,”That they may all be one”. We desire to help all unite in our Lord Jesus and be one so the world will see we are united in our Lord regardless of a certain denomination or creeds.
Our churches range from conservative to liberal but we all hold fast to the Bible and Jesus Christ as the only way to eternal life. We at Trinity are a conservative, Bible believing congregation that is sold out to Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is the infallible word of God.
